History
In
1989, an annotated bibliography of tutor training materials was
published by the Midwest College Learning Center Association. In
1996, Suzanne M. Swiderski and Lisa Godde Kerr published an
extension of the earlier bibliography entitled: Tutor Training: An
Annotated Bibliography of Theories, Principles, and Practices from
1989-1996. The "purpose is to provide a listing and description of
sources focusing on the topic of tutor training for practicing
college- and university-level professionals in the fields of
learning assistance and developmental education." Readily available
English works addressing the issues of selection, preparation and
evaluation of tutors are included. Contributing bibliographers
include Bob Carlson, Lisa Godde Kerr, Michelle Miessen, Robin Remich,
and Suzanne M. Swiderski. There are 39 pages of entries.
Another edition of
the tutoring bibliography was published in 2001, edited by Jackie
Robertson and Karla Sanders. The bibliography was distributed to the
membership.
